Today we had Spanish presentations at ICADS. Each class had to present on a topic having to do with the indigenous people of Costa Rica. My class presented on the Boruca tribe. After that each group had to make muñecas out of maize/water and put things from the earth on them to represent things, like the creation legends of the indigenous people. Then you had to present your dolls to everyone and explain your symbolism. But my group had kinda a rough start which was actually pretty funny. We went to get our bowl of maize and there was no bowl for our group, so we thought we had to combine with a group bc a few groups had been told to do that. But apparently we were supposed to do it by ourselves and finally our teacher found our bowl in the kitchen! Hahah soo we finally got started. We ended making snowmen. With lots of weird symbolism… hahahah it was pretty hysterical though, although I don’t think anyone else appreciated how funny we thought this was. But we had a great time making them. All in all quite a weird but funny activity. Unfortunately we didn’t win the contest.. gosh dang it. It's hard to explain why exactly this was so funny...
Nice to have something to laugh about!
